Yep. We're rookies. And our faces look like this...
We took TE down to Missouri University of Science and Technology this weekend for PRO (Preview, Registration, and Orientation). They gave us these buttons to wear because he's our first one to fly the nest, so we're rookies.
Actually, our faces were much more relaxed than this. It was truly enjoyable, and even though we have mixed feelings about letting go of our firstborn, we definitely feel that this is where God wants him to be next year.
It was a long, crazy day today, but I think we covered all the bases. He's got a good schedule. He knows where he wants to live. We've got the meal plan picked. We know when the first bill is due.
We did realize today that this is the beginning of paying for college for the next 17 years (minus 1)!!! Ugh!
Anyway, things have been WAY too busy at our house and I have much to blog about, but just can't find the time. I'll try to squeeze some posts in late at night or early in the mornings soon.
Blessings to you,
Mamita

HA!! Love that button! I can't imagine being in your situation (but everyone tells me it comes too soon :) )
Thank you so much for sharing your comment on my blog. Adoption is amazing, messy, painful, and simply incredible. It all points to Christ. Wow. Like you said, what great lengths He goes to for us!!
I'm so glad I can come talk to you in four years about this new adventure. :)

I just found your blog while looking for blogs on adoption. My husband went to Missouri S&T when it was still MU-Rolla.
Okay, that's so crazy. I was just thinking about you and was going to look for the link to your blog on my favorites, and then I saw your comment. What a moving story about how you held and sang to your daughter that you would never let go.
I love your ideas on making your Cupcake feel safe. I may need to do the same. Daniel struggles with this, especially at night. When we were living in a hotel in Guatemala, he checked the locks constantly and would push furniture up against the door at night. It broke my heart. We pray with him each night which helps calm his fears.
I hope all is well with you and your sweet family!
God Bless,
Kathie
